The New Administrative Capital, Egypt
Utilities of the Irrigation Water Transmission Lines First Phase – New Administrative Capital
Project Overview:
The New Administrative Capital (NAC) of Egypt is a large-scale project designed to create sustainable developments with a significant positive impact on the Egyptian economy. The master plan envisions a global city with smart infrastructure. The first phase of the irrigation water transmission lines project, connecting the sewage treatment plant to the irrigation water tanks in the R8 area of the NAC, is a crucial component of this sustainable development plan.
The primary goal is to provide a reliable and sustainable source of irrigation water for green spaces, landscaping, and urban agriculture within the NAC. By utilizing treated sewage effluent (wastewater) for irrigation, the project aims to conserve precious freshwater resources, which is especially important in water-scarce Egypt.
Key Components:
The project consists of the following:
- Sewage Treatment Plant: This plant within the NAC serves as the source of the irrigation water.
- Transmission Lines: The project involves the construction of 1,500 mm diameter prestressed concrete double pipelines. These two lines connect the NAC’s water treatment plant to the irrigation reservoirs in the first sector of the R8 residential area.
- Irrigation Water Tanks: Storage tanks are being built in the R8 area to hold the treated water, ensuring a consistent supply for irrigation. These tanks also help manage peak demand and provide a buffer in case of interruptions in the treatment or transmission process.

ECPC’s Scope of Work:
ECPC is a key supplier of prestressed concrete pipes (PCCP) for this project. ECPC will provide a total of 23,000 meters of medium-diameter (1,500mm/32 bars) PCCP pipes and customized nonstandard special fittings. ECPC has completed approximately 57% of its scope of work.
